I know this conversation is about the people that impact our lives... but this little guy, on the eve of his 6 months on this earth, has transformed my life. In some ways he has saved my life. He is a loyal companion who reminds me to savor the simple pleasures of each day. His presence brings a sense of renewed purpose and responsibility, and his unconditional acceptance is a powerful reminder of the good in the world, and the good in me. Though he can be a handful at times, he's become an irreplaceable part of my life.
Nero. Nero, a name meaning "black" in Italian, aptly foreshadowed the duality of a Roman emperor's reign. He ascended the throne a beacon of youthful promise, a leader with artistic aspirations. However, his rule descended into a web of extravagance, culminating in the infamous blaze that charred the heart of Rome. Let my Nero embody those aspirations and not the fall from grace!
